Pig Count Down

Looking for new pigs at Detour Ranch. It looks like our Berkshire sow Cathy will have a litter of pigs this weekend 2/20. Everyone here is excited to see what she produces because we all like her the best of all our pigs. She is very mild mannered and fun to be around. We put her in one of our pens a few weeks ago so she would be able to give birth without the other animals bothering her and she has rooted up the hole pen. I was going to plow it and plant grass in it this spring and she saved me the trouble of plowing. This litter of pigs will be crosses of Berkshire and Duroc. We plan to get a full blood Berkshire boar so the next litter will be full blood Berkshires. We currently have 7 new kid goats and expecting a bunch more this spring. Our Great Pyrenees dogs gave us 9 pups in November so we now have puppies for sale. You can go to our website to see what happens next. Detour Ranch

Diamonds Formation

Diamonds are formed from carbon, where the carbon atoms are arranged in a variation of the face centered cubic crystal structure; called a diamond lattice. Diamonds are less stable than graphite, but the conversion rate from diamond to graphite is negligible. A Diamond is renowned as a material with superlative physical qualities, most of which originate from the strong covalent bonding between its atoms. In particular, a diamond has the highest hardness and thermal conductivity of any bulk material.
Most natural diamonds are formed at high pressure and temperature conditions existing at depths of 87 to 120 miles in the Earth mantle. Carbon containing minerals provide the carbon source, and the growth occurs over periods from 1 billion to 3.3 billion years. Diamonds are brought close to the Earth surface through volcanic eruptions which cools into igneous rocks known as kimberlites and lamprolites. Diamonds can also be produced synthetically in a high pressure high temperature process which simulates the conditions in the Earth mantle. An alternative and completely different growth technique is chemical vapor deposition. Several non diamond materials, which include cubic zirconia and silicon carbide and are often called diamond simulants, resemble diamonds in appearance and many properties. Special techniques have been specially developed to distinguish natural and synthetic diamonds and diamond simulants.

Bucket Truck

Bucket Truck: A piece of equipment known by all those that work on things of the ground. If you have ever been driving, and saw a utility crew working on overhead lines you probably saw a bucket truck. They are used to lift workers up to high places. They are much more maneuverable and safer than a ladder if used properly. One of the great things about a bucket truck is the ability to move several feet without having to reposition your ladder. You do not have to have something to lean a ladder against. For inspection check list and other bucket truck information go to: Bucket Truck

Bucket Truck Purpose

Bucket trucks are sold in a number of sizes and shapes, each to help make work easier. While the bucket truck is used for many different purposes, the most common is power linemen. By using this type of equipment, they can complete their work in a comfortable, safe, and efficient manner, primarily where steel or concrete poles are used.
Bucket trucks are used for a number of industries and can be seen along roadsides every day. For example, have you ever watched as the local telephone or Utilities Company rides in a bucket to the top of a pole to fix something? If so, then you have seen a bucket truck. This is exactly what a bucket truck is used for - lifting and lowering workers to places too tall to reach with ladders.
The design of the bucket truck includes a storage bin that is great for holding tools and material needed by the worker. In addition, some bucket trucks are designed with a single or double-arm boom for one or two people or a hydraulic outrigger jack, which provides extra stability. You will also find some designs that are powered by the actual truck engine while others are operated with an auxiliary engine that is mounted on the back section of the truck.
Just remember that while the bucket truck is easy to operate and can make the job much easier to complete, this is still a large piece of equipment that needs to be handled properly. When the manufacturer’s operation is followed, the worker will experience a smooth, safe ride while keeping maintenance to a minimum.
There are many rules that fall under OSHA guidelines to ensure safety when using a bucket truck. However, when employees are trained and the truck used the proper way, this piece of equipment can provide years of support in the workplace. Just remember, this is a large truck and if not handled according to the manufacturer’s recommendations and OSHA guidelines, injury or death could occur.
Therefore, while a bucket truck can save tremendous time and effort, it definitely needs to be respected for the powerful machine that it is. For the business owner, the key to safety is training. You can obtain a number of excellent tapes for drivers and bucket truck operators to watch through the truck manufacturer or directly from OSHA.

Understanding Truck Insurance

Trying to figure out what truck insurance you need? Maybe this will help.

Typically, there are four types of insurance coverage for trucks: truck cargo, primary liability, general liability, and non-trucking liability.
Primary liability insurance is required by the government to drive a truck on the road. This insurance covers all the damages and injuries caused by the truck while on the road. A coverage amount of at least $750, 000 is required to drive a truck legally. Should an accident occur, this amount will be used to cover the damages. If it is not enough, then you have to pay the remaining costs.
General liability, on the other hand, covers the accidents that occur of the road. Like when the truck is parked. Vandalism and theft are the two biggest problems when parked.
Truck cargo insurance covers the cargo in your truck or trailer from possible theft or loss. This is not mandatory by the government but most client's require you to insure there cargo.
Non-trucking insurance this is for times such as when your truck is in the repair shop, in your garage, or bobtail.
Things can’t be simple these days and just by truck insurance! you have to get all different types in order to be covered for everything. It amazes me how the insurance companies keep breaking down the coverage ad requiring us to pay more to get the same coverage.

Finding a reputable carpet cleaning service can be a challenge, there are many companies that have poor quality carpet cleaning equipment that does not vacuum well or leaves a lot of water in the carpet. Many technicians do not have the proper training or just does not care! I worked for a company once that when we ran out of scotch guard the owner put water in the bottle and finished the job with just water. Ask neighbors and friends who they use and what kind of job do they do? Call the better business bureau to see if there are any complaints on the company you are considering.

A jewelry box can also be used as an heirloom, if you are purchasing one for yourself, is it something that you would want to pass down generations? The jewelry box itself can be an exquisite work of art, let alone the gems and precious metals inside.

Jewelry boxes come in so many sizes and shapes, if you can think of it; you can probably find it, somewhere. If you are meeting a private party to look at a vehicle, try to get there 15 to 20 minutes early. You may discover the used car being prepared for your visit (trying to hide problems).
Try to get the seller to set a time for you to see the vehicle when it has been sitting overnight. You want to see how it will start first thing in the morning this can tell you if the battery or fuel system is having a problem.
Always try to inspect used cars during the day, when you can see better than at night.

Take time to perform an inspection to your satisfaction. Don't be in a hurry or let yourself be rushed.
At some point during a test drive, try to drive at 20 to 30 mph beside a solid center median or beside a solid side wall. Open the window halfway and listen for sounds of the vehicle echoed by the hard surface. You should only hear the sound of the tires on the roadway other sounds could mean problems.
For practice, inspect a car you already own. Doing so will familiarize you with the process and also provide a reference point for cars you are considering for purchase.

Used Cars For Sale By Owner Tip

Using free online services - There are numerous websites online which provide free online ads, Many have a for sale by owner listing but many of them are not devoted to used car sales and most are not worth your time. But there is a website that allows you to list your car for free and it provides localized searching, the name of the website in case you haven't heard of it is craigslist.org. While the searching tool provided by craigslist is a little limited, because they carry so many different free product listings, it is still a great portal to sell your used cars online; or anything else for that matter. The negatives of using craigslist is that you can only search locally and not nationwide and that you can only supply up to 4 images for your car ad unless you were an expert at HTML and could figure out how to add more pictures.

Operating A Dump Truck

Operating a dump truck
There are many variables in operating a truck such as fuel, oil, preventive maintenance, tires, and the biggest uncertainty of all, repair parts and labor. Truck repair shops will have no mercy on you when you’re in need of repairs and repairs are not if, it is when, you will have to repair your dump truck from time to time. Truck repair shops run about $80 per hour and I have seen $125. Truck fuel mileage varies depending on the gears, engine and how it is being used but on average 5-8 mpg, fuel will be a large part of your expense to operate your truck.

Dump truck insurance will cost several hundred dollars a month depending on your driving record , location, how you will be using your dump truck etc., licenses and property taxes, these are relatively straightforward and will run in the hundreds a year usually around $500. Loan on your dump truck will depend on what dump truck you buy, currant interest rates combined with your credit score and the current risk of financing a dump truck. Great Pyrenees For Sale

Great Pyrenees: If you are a rancher or a farmer with livestock; especially small animals like goats or sheep, than this is a name that you are probably familiar with. A Great Pyrenees dog is one of the best LGDs’ (livestock guardian dog) you can get. I can say this from experience, since my wife and I run a Boer goat ranch along with having Berkshire pigs and Rhode Island Red chickens. Before we started using Great Pyrenees, we had several goats disappear; some times body parts were found where something had eaten them, and our chickens were completely wiped out twice. We got our Great Pyrenees dogs and have not had anything disappear in 2 years; so I am a believer in how well they work.
Now our Great Pyrenees male and our ¾ Great Pyrenees, ¼ Anatolian Shepherd female have given us puppies. I have been working with the puppies to try and determine if they’re going to follow in their parents’ footsteps of keeping the predators away from the livestock. I have been surprised by how well they are responding. You usually find them out with the goat herd or wandering around the pens with the chickens and pigs. I think they will grow up and be exceptional guardians. We have the mother and 8 puppies for sale.

Berkshire Pigs

Berkshire Pigs: This is a name that people and restaurants have come to know, when they expect a high quality pork for flavor and color. This breed produces pork that has a much darker color and richer flavor than what you are able to buy in the store. The pork you find in your local store usually comes from some big factory farm (feed lot) where their main goal is to produce pigs for market as fast as possible, with little regard as to the actual quality of the meat. This includes giving them hormones or chemically added feed to be able to accomplish their goal. The Berkshire does grow a little slower than hybrids so they are not normally used for factory farms. However, some of the big factory farms do use a Berkshire to add some color and flavor back to their herds when they start producing poor meat.

Truck Insurance

Truck insurance: If you own a truck or a fleet of trucks this is a term that means someone else is getting a large portion of your hard earned money. To a large degree insurance company’s play a vital part in driving any vehicle but with commercial trucks it is even a bigger part because of the damage caused when a truck is involved and it gives the truck driver some comfort to know, if they are faced with a lawsuit happy individual (you now the kind that goes around looking for someone to sue so they can get a free ride in life) then someone has their back in the lawsuit. This is of course is assuming the insurance company is reputable and not one that just takes your money and leaves you in the cold when you need them most (like when you are in an accident). Unfortunately there are many insurance companies that do just take your money and then hide behind the fine print when you need them or want fight for you just leaves everything to you. I have dealt with this myself and it really bites when you have paid thousands out for the supposedly protection only to find out you have no one to help you with all legal stuff of an accident unless you spend even more money and hire an attorney.
